Wholesome Octopus Comic - Ocean Literacy Canada

Just some wholesome octopi to brighten up your week ☀️

Inspired and adapted to the ocean from one of our fav quotes: “In a world where you can be anything, be yourself” - Etta Turner ⁣

Chromatophores are a special type of pigment-containing cells found in a variety of species, such as the octopus! An array of nerves and muscles are able to control the expansion and contraction of these cells. The more a sac expands, the more visible that colour becomes on the surface of an octopus. This adaptation allows them to camouflage when hiding, or stand out when they want to be seen! 🐙
